Wesley Wayne Davis, “Popsie”, 86, of West Chester, PA, formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Pocopson Home in West Chester.
Born in West Grove, PA, he was the son of the late Clement “Tom” and Viola S. Brown Davis.
A 1949 graduate of Avon Grove High School, he was the second African American to work for General Motors. After he retired, he served as volunteer fire fighter for the Kennett Square Fire Department.
Wesley is survived by his daughters, Renee Jones and Gail Reyes both of Kennett Square, PA, Carmen Green of Newark, DE, Regina Davis of Houston TX; his sons, Wesley Davis (Jean) of West Chester, PA, Wayne Davis (Lucy) of Hawaii, Vernon Davis (Nickie) and Todd Davis both of FL; his siblings, Larry Davis of Cochranville, PA, Gilbert Davis and Tommy Davis of Oxford, PA, Sally Davis of Wilmington, DE; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Wesley was preceded in death by his wife Jean E. Davis; his siblings: Deborah Daley, Robert Davis, Blair Davis; and his companion, Mary Anne Hunt.
Services will be at 11 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at New Garden Memorial UAME Church, 309 E. Linden St in Kennett Square, PA. The viewing begins at 10 AM.
Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, PA.
