Josephine B. Mayo was born in Coatesville on June 15, 1943 to the late Agnes B. Moore Hyden and William A. Hyden. She was educated within the Coatesville Area School District attending the Houstonville School, the Historic James Adams School and graduated from S. Horace Scott High School in 1961. She met and married Lawrence Edward Mayo, Jr. and to that union came four sons. Josephine worked for the Blind Association of Coatesville the Downingtown Motor Inn, Downingtown and retired after thirteen years of service to Pepperidge Farms, Downingtown.

She loved to do hook rug, and shopping, especially QVC, HSN and catalogs, she was always ordering something for somebody.  She also loved to bowl and going to the Casinos which she referred to as “going to work.”  Josephine did love her soaps, family members knew not to call her between 12:30 and 2 o’clock.  She also enjoyed cooking, bus trips, “football season” and collecting Elephants.  She had a great sense of humor.

Surrounded by her family Josephine passed away July 1, 2016. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Alice Meade Hyden, Vivian Baker and Marvin Hyden.

She leaves her husband Lawrence “Eddie” Mayo Jr.; four sons, Lawrence E. Mayo III of Phoenixville, William E. Mayo of Coatesville, James E. Mayo (Victoria) of Minneola, Florida, Clifton E. Mayo (Audrey) of Honeybrook; brother, T. Eugene Hyden (Christine) of Clermont, Florida; a cousin, Sara King of Coatesville; 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held 11 am Monday, July 11 at the Trinity United Bible Church, 50 S 8th Ave in Coatesville with a viewing begin at 9 am.
 
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.

Condolences may be left using the condolence tab. Flowers can be sent to the church on the service day. The theme color is purple.
