Life began for Harry Alexander Sellers, Jr., November 11, 1933 in Coatesville Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Harry A. Sellers, SR., and Hazel Virginia Simms-Sellers. He was affectionately known as “Junie” and “New Man” by his family and friends.

On March 15, 2017 while resting at home surrounded by his loving family, God dispatched his angel of mercy calling him home from labor to reward.

Harry was educated in the Coatesville Area School District, starting with the Midvale Elementary School, the Historic James Adams School and a graduate of the S. Horace Scott High School in 1953.

A Korean War Veteran, Harry served nobly in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged in 1957.  After returning from fulfilling his military assignment he began to work for the Coatesville Veterans Administration Medical Center where he worked as a Nurse’s Assistant, receiving multiple exceptional service awards.  He retired in 1991 after 32 years of faithful dedicated service.

Harry was a lifetime faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bernardtown, where he had served as a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Church Sexton, Church Van Driver, and a member of the choir.

Harry is remembered as a loving companion and devoted father, honest and a strong man of great character.  Harry loved his children and devoted his life to raising his children as a single parent.

Harry was an outsdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.  He was featured in The Coatesville Record (1968) for bagging a 180 pound 8-point deer near Tamaqua in Schuylkill County.  He also enjoyed shooting pool, watching football and basketball, listening to old school R&B music with his love Beverly, and watching old Western Cowboy Movies; “Shane” being his all-time favorite.

He leaves a great legacy to forever be cherished by his loving companion of forty years Beverly A. Blake; two daughters, Deborah Wiley (Bryant, Sr.) of Easton, Pa., Shelly L. Middleton of Coatesville; four sons, Harry A. Sellers III (Tracy), and Robert J. Sellers, of Coatesville, Barry L. Sellers, Sr. (Victoria) of Parkesburg, Anthony G. Sellers of Coatesville; and one step-son, George W. Blake of Coatesville. He also leaves one sister, Juanita Prather of Providence Rhode Island; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Sellers, Nathaniel Booth; two sisters, Hazel V. Coleman and Laura B. Sellers.

Services will be held 11 AM Friday, March 24, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Bernardtown, 1208 Youngsburg Rd, Coatesville. A viewing will be held from 9 AM - 10:45 AM.
Interment with full military honors will be held at New Evergreen Cemetery in Coatesville.
