Barbara Ann Kearse, 76, of Coatesville, PA, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 29, 2017, at Lankenau Medical Center, Wynnewood, PA.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Joanna Fells Coleman and the late Charles E. Coleman, Sr. She was the widow of George Kearse.
Barbara was a graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School, Coatesville, PA and John Robert Powers Modeling and Fashion Techniques and Charm School, Philadelphia, PA.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a Management and Program Analyst for the Social Security Administration in Philadelphia.
A lifetime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Coatesville, she served on the Trustee Board and the Rosebud Usher Board. Barbara was also a member of the Interdenominational Church Usher's Association of Chester County (I.C.U.A.C.C.).
A talented cook, seamstress, crocheter, and gardener, Barbara was always willing to share her talents to bring joy into the lives of others. She crocheted afghans for hospice patients, gave beautiful potted plants she had lovingly grown to others, and made bridesmaids dresses and other formal wear for family and friends. She was known for her extensive elephant collection and exquisite African violets. She was also a Life Member of the NAACP. One of Barbara’s favorite activities was hosting her fellow members of The Red Hat Society.
She leaves precious moemories to brother, Charles E. Coleman, Jr. (Bertha), of Downingtown, PA; sisters, Kathleen M. E. Coleman-Smith, Philadelphia, PA; Joanna Blome (William), Severn, MD; Elizabeth J. Carroll, Washington, DC; aunts, Estell Fells Lee, Coatesville, PA; Jacqueline Rhodes (Carl), West Chester, PA; 4 nieces; 2 nephews; 5 great nieces; 4 great nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates St., Coatesville, PA., with a viewing beginning at 8:00 AM. An I.C.U.A.C.C. Ritualistic Service will be observed at 9:15 AM.
Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, West Chester, PA.
