William Gilbert Graham, age 80, of Coatesville, PA passed on Friday, July 14, 2023, at home with his family by his side.
William was born in Coatesville, PA on June 7, 1943, the son of the late Robert Lee and Margaret Franklin Graham. William was the husband of Elsie Elizabeth Graham (nee Parker), with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
William was a graduate of S. Horace Scott High School where he was a member of the basketball team, and he served his country in the United States Air Force. William worked at the G.O. Carlson Steel Company for 26 years before his retirement. He was a long-time member of the historic Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church where he served as a steward, a member of the men’s club, the culinary staff, the Mighty Men of Hutchinson Men’s Choir, and the Sunrise Choir. William shared a love of cooking, gardening, travel, and was an avid fan of the Washington Commanders (formerly the Redskins); but his truest loves were his wife and family.
William had a good heart and was a humble servant of the Lord. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Elsie; daughters Arlene Bryant Scott of Jacksonville, FL; Jane Kennedy of Coatesville, PA; Diane Deas (Mark) of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Wayne Graham (Teresa) of Coatesville, PA; grandchildren Kendra Reeves of Newport News, VA; whom he raised, Adam Scott VI of Coatesville, PA; Dionna Kennedy of Coatesville, PA; Roland Kennedy, Jr. of New York City, NY; and Justin Deas of Jacksonville, FL; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. William is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Glen Mays Graham, Maxine “Max” Baker (nee Graham), Robin Graham, Rodney Graham, Sabrina Graham, and Shirley Mae Gambala.
Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the historic Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church, 825 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville, PA 19320. A public viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 AM.
