Walter H. “Jiggs” Butler, Jr. was born on June 23, 1952, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Walter Haywood Butler, Sr., and Marjorie E. Gay Butler. Walter was the husband of the late Penny Spriggs Butler and the father of three children: Wanika E. Butler, Natia Marjorie Butler-Johnson, and Michael Antwon Warren.
Walter completed his formal education in the Coatesville Area School District and graduated at 16 years old. He served proudly in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. During his military career, he was awarded for his valiant efforts including the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Grenade, and an M16 Sharpshooter.
Walter was a graduate of Cosmetology school and Theological school. He worked at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. He worked as a Barber at Great Clips and Wesley’s Barbershop on First Avenue in Coatesville for many years. He was a member of the Lily of the Valley Lodge #59.
Like his mother, Walter was quite stylish and loved everyone. He was always impeccably dressed and the epitome of a fly and distinguished gentleman.
Before we knew it Walter was called home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2022.
He leaves two daughters, Wanika E. Butler of Coatesville, and Natia Marjorie Butler-Johnson (Nathaniel) of Philadelphia; son, Michael Antwon Warren of Downingtown; grandchildren: Alaja Butler, Vincent Marchant, Alyjah Nasir Warren, Niyanna Maelyn Warren, Amaree Legend Warren, Akai Amin Warren; siblings: Eshmon H. Butler of Coatesville, Anthony Butler (Elva) of Kennett Square, Carol Underdue, Bertha Alston (Dennis) both of Coatesville, Beverly Butler Scott of Philadelphia, Johnny Butler (Christina) of Kennett Square, Barry Butler (Drusilla) of Bear DE, Lisa Lee (Anthony) of Kennett Square, Danielle Profeto and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Hutchinson UAME Memorial Church, 825 E Chestnut Street, Coatesville.
Inurnment with full Military Honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, in Annville, PA. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
