Theresa A. Thomas

Theresa A. Thomas, 67, of Coatesville, PA passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Alan W. Thomas, Sr. and Jean M. Blakney Thomas.

Theresa was a spirited woman who loved to dance and had a particular fondness for soul and rap music. She loved collecting record albums and was the life of any house party. She was known to get everyone on their feet and dancing.

Theresa was a natural storyteller and had a sharp sense of humor that was always guaranteed to make her family and friends laugh. She had a green thumb and was an expert at taking care of houseplants, making her home a beautiful and welcoming space. Theresa was also an amazing cook, and her deviled eggs, potato salad, fried potatoes, and baked chicken were always crowd-pleasers.

She was a member of Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in West Chester. Above all else, Theresa loved her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and infectious spirit.

She is survived by daughters, Gina Thomas of West Chester, Theresa E. Thomas of Coatesville; son, Markus A. Thomas (Kate) of Christiana; siblings, Alsenia Smith, Markus Thomas, Evie Johnson (Kevin) all of West Chester, Richard Mack (Regina Butler) of Altoona; 8 grandchildren: Nikema, Briheem (Shannon), Alijah, Lateef, Tyrese, Lailah, Noah, Natee and Sy’eed; 4 great-grandchildren: Jaiyre, Ja’Khi, Benji, and Sofia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Natia Y. Thomas; brothers, Alan W. Thomas, Jr., and Nathan Thomas.

Theresa's passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on through her family and friends. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love and laughter will endure.

Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church, 1 Hagerty Blvd, West Chester, PA.  A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
