Steven Lee Mayo, departed this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at the Westgate Hills Rehabilitation Center & Nursing Home in Havertown, PA. He was 70 years old.
Born in Coatesville, Steven was the third of six children of the late Rudolph E. Mayo Sr. and Vera Jackson Mayo.
Known to many as “Shotgun” he was educated in the Coatesville Area School District. Steve had many interests including music and culinary arts. He developed his food services skills at Sandy Cove Bible Conference, in Northeast MD, working in the kitchen. This developed into his business of catering and as a personal chef. His journey included employment working alongside his father at Lukens and a Dry Cleaners. He also worked for Deveraux. Steve was employed as an estate manager for a private family in Malvern, PA until he retired.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Joan A. Mayo (1984) and brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Mayo Jr. (2018)
He leaves behind his daughter, Carletta Cannon Williams (Rodney) and son, Theodore Bookman; grandchildren, Rodkeem Williams, Maya Jean Cannon, Zyaira Marie Bookman and Sace Hamilton; three sisters, Valerie Ann Mayo, Jane Mayo Johnson and Valerie Goodwin Wilson; uncle, Joseph Jackson; aunt, Florence Jackson Edmunds; nieces, Simone Mayo-Rolle, Kerri Wilson, Tanya Wilson; nephews, Steven Mayo, Scott Mayo, Tyrone Boggs Jr.; special family friend, Harvey Ellison; along with a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service is planned for 12 noon, Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the RL Davis Fellowship Hall, 825 Chestnut Street, Coatesville, PA, located in the back of the church.
