Shirley Oleatha Brown, born June 4, 1947, in Coatesville, entered into eternal rest on June 17, 2020, at Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Shirley was the daughter of the late James J. and Pauline Elizabeth Brown Anderson. She was a 1966 graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School in Coatesville, PA. She was employed by the Coatesville VA Hospital for 35 years until she retired. In her recent years, she worked graciously for Green Meadows nursing home in Paoli for 9 years. Shirley loved this job so much that she continued working there all the way until she was called home to be with the Lord.
Over the years, she was a member of the Bell Chapel True Holiness Church of God under the leadership of Bishop Bell and she was a member of New Jerusalem in Atlanta Georgia serving with Pastor Rachael Harris.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and shopping with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite store was Boscov’s. Shirley was never afraid to speak what was on her mind and made sure she always did it with a smile. Shirley loved her Lord and Savior and knew that He knew her name.
Shirley leaves a legacy of love and memories to her children: Katrina Brown Williams (Lee) of Philadelphia, PA, Nicole Brown of Coatesville, PA, John Anderson and William Brown both of Lancaster, PA; two sisters, Sis. Doris Hicklen and Nancy Helm (Greg) both of Coatesville, PA; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; one great uncle, Gladstone Baltimore of Coatesville; longtime companion, Edward Duston of Philadelphia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, James J. Anderson, Jonathon Anderson; two sisters, Thelma Hamilton and Brenda Holos.
Homegoing Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, June 26, 2020, at Wright Funeral & Cremation Services, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA. Her viewing will be from 9 AM - 11 AM.
The interment will be in New Evergreen Cemetery, Coatesville.
