Scott Lopez Obituary

Scott T. Lopez, Sr., 58, of Coatesville, PA, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020, at his residence.

Born and raised in West Chester, he was the son of the late Hildo and Mary Tilghman Lopez.  He was the beloved husband of Melissa Antoinette Lopez with whom he shared 21 years of marriage.

Scott served in United States army until he was honorably discharged. He also served in the national guard for several years.

Over the years, he worked for Saint Cecilia's for 15 years and for the Chester County Housing Authority.

Scott was a talented landscaper who enjoyed gardening and meticulously taking care of lawns. In the community he was always willing to help out whenever needed.

To say he was very organized is an understatement. He took great care in putting things in order.

Scott was an avid fisherman. He was funny, he liked to pull pranks and loved to tell jokes.   Most of all he truly loved to spend time with his grandchildren. No matter what kind of day he was having when his children and grandchildren came to visit, it would light up his whole world.

Scott had a caring heart. He was passionate about giving to St. Jude's Cancer Research. Scott also was known for sending inspirational cards. Not just any card, but one that suited a certain situation. He also gave unusual but thoughtful gifts.

Scott was a good husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Lopez; children: Tanesha Lopez-Ben (Charles), Naja Bowman (John) all of Johnstown, Daniel Mansfield (Erica) of Parkesburg, Scott T. Lopez, Jr. of Coatesville, Gemil Lopez of SC,  Janise Woodward (Christopher) of Coatesville, Terron Corporal and Tanerra Corporal of Atlanta, GA, Chanel Butler, Coatesville; siblings: Mildred L. Glasco-Brown (William), Lisa M. Tilghman, Hildo A. Lopez, Jr. (Amy), Helen E. Lopez-Burton, Carmen D. Lopez, Kenneth Gaskins and Christopher Lopez; 23 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary J. Lopez; father, Hildo A. Lopez, Sr. and two brothers, Brian Tilghman and Richard Tilghman.
