Ruth Flowers Miller Obituary

Ruth Ann Miller, 84, formerly of Downingtown, most recently of Virginia, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at the Chester County Hospital, West Chester.

Born in Downingtown, PA, she was one of 18 children born to the late Reverend Thomas Wesley Flowers, Sr., and Nettie May Flowers.

She graduated from Downingtown High School in 1956. She loved reading mystery books, doing jigsaw puzzles, solving word searches, playing solitaire, and going out to eat.

Ruth was an active member of Mount Raymond UAME Church throughout her life, where she sang in the choir and served as the financial treasurer. She enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles football team and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star Eureka Chapter #12 in Coatesville and the American Legion Auxiliary in Downingtown. Ruth was known for her quiet personality and attentive listening, but when she gave you that look, you knew she meant business. Most of all, she was known for being a nurturing and caring mother.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was also predeceased by her daughter, Gail Gregory; grandsons, Xavier Gregory, James Miller; sisters, Rebecca Butcher, Nettie Brown, Maryann Flowers, Edna Flowers, and Barbara Westmoreland; brothers: William Flowers, Joseph Flowers, Thomas W. Flowers, Jr., Clarence Flowers, the triplets Harold, Henry and Howard Flowers, and David Flowers.

She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to her children: Felisa A. Brown of Coatesville, Adrian Miller (Lisa) of Coatesville, Diahann Burgess of Coatesville, Robin Miller of Prince George, VA, Colleen Miller of West Chester, and Kriston Miller (Capria) of Coatesville; siblings: Esther Harvey of Coatesville; Jacqueline Hunt of Downingtown, Dorothy Johnson, of Coatesville, and Gordon Flowers (Sheena) of Coatesville; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; two, Lasapoo dogs named: Checkers and Chelsey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and community. May she rest in peace.
