Robert D. Hovington Sr., devoted father and grandfather, transitioned peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on July 9, 2021 at the age of 93 at his home in Lothian, Maryland.
He was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Priscilla Hovington and David Luff, where he attended West Chester Area schools.
Robert was a chartered member of Emmanuel Temple Church of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, where he served as Senior Deacon. He was employed at Wyeth Laboratories where he retired after many years of dedicated service.
His warm pleasant demeanor and glowing smile left a lasting impression and brought joy to everyone he encountered. He was always ecstatic to spend quality time with his family and felt blessed beyond measure whenever he had "the whole crew" together. He enjoyed watching sports, and a good Western movie was one of his favorite pastimes, but his love of Christ was first and foremost in his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Isabel Hovington; two sons, Thomas H. Hovington and Robert D. Hovington Jr.; one brother, Harry Hovington; three sisters: Priscilla Hovington, Beatrice Roy, Hilda Echevarria; two grandsons, Robert D. Hovington III, Arnold Crawford, and son-in-law Marshall Crawford.
Robert is survived by three children: Linda H. Crawford of Lawrenceville, GA, Kim M. Pouncy (Arthur) of Coatesville, PA, and Brett Hovington (Angie) of Lothian, MD.
He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Middleton, six grandchildren: Dwayne Hovington, Damon Hovington, Darolyn McCann, Tierney DeJesus, Brant Hovington, and Briana Hovington; 8 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, godchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Wright Funeral Home, 725 Merchant Street, Coatesville, PA 19320. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM.
