Patricia Ambrose passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Paoli Memorial Hospital.
Pat was born on June 8, 1947, to the late Julia Tunnell. She had 3 siblings, Stanley Tunnell, Janet Baynard, and Reverend Marilyn Tunnell.
She was educated in the Tredyffrin Eastown School District and graduated from Conestoga High School. After graduation, Pat began working in food service. Her last place of employment was the Devon Preparatory School in Devon, PA where she retired.
Pat had 3 children Jeffery M. Tunnell, Richard G. Ambrose Jr., and Megan Ambrose.
Pat loved her small family and always looked forward to spending time with them. She ensured that they gathered during the holidays. She planned early and worked tirelessly to host Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter where family and friends gathered to share food, laughs, and memories.
Most Saturdays you would find Pat in the malls, stores, and restaurants with her 2 sisters. You would often hear her on the phone asking them “What’s on the rail for the lizard today?” and weekend plans were confirmed shortly after. She loved shopping, especially at Boscov’s and Walmart. Sundays were reserved for Eagles football; she loved her birds and never missed a game. Whether they were winning or losing, she was there to support her team. She loved her Phillies and Sixers as well.
Pat loved her shows, General Hospital and 90 Day Fiancé and she watched both faithfully. She also loved Spaghetti and made sure it was on the dinner menu at least once a week.
In the summers, Pat loved family vacations in Ocean City, Maryland, and Atlantic City, New Jersey. She loved walking the boardwalks and shopping in the various stores. When she wasn’t on vacation, Pat loved sitting on the porch or deck, soaking in the sun, reading, and watching people go by.
When she wasn’t working or shopping, you would find her with her nose in a book. She loved fiction books, particularly romance novels, and stories about the Amish. She had stacks upon stacks of books until she finally got a Kindle.
Pat loved to listen to music of all kinds. Early Saturday mornings, she would turn on her Bobby Brown cassette tape and her children and niece knew it was time to clean the house. She loved Motown and would sing and dance like no one was watching or listening. Recently, she took a liking to Bruno Mars and would light up whenever she heard his music. Most of all she loved the Whispers, specifically her Scottie and Walter. She went to many of their concerts whenever they came to town.
The one thing she loved the most was being a grandmother. She loved all of her grandchildren and they loved her immensely. There was nothing she would not do for them.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Julia Tunnell, and brother, Stanely Tunnell.
She is survived by her sons Jeffery Tunnell and Richard Ambrose, Jr. (Kiwana) and daughter Megan Ambrose (Scott); two sisters Janet Baynard and Reverend Marilyn Tunnell; grandchildren Anthony Tunnell (Cayenne), Ayanna Greene, Christopher Ambrose, Jordan Tunnell, Noah Ambrose, SJ Copening, and Josiah Copening; great-grandson Miles Tunnell; niece Julia Peticca (Daniel); great-nephew Ian Peticca and great-niece Gia Peticca; as well as a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
