Nathaniel Edward Curry, 91, of Coatesville, PA, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Nathaniel Douglas and Catherine Curry Jason. He was the husband of the late Agnes L. Curry with whom he shared 60 years of marriage until her passing in 2008.
Nate served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He also served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged in 1953.
He worked for many years as a Steel Roller and Guard at Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville. Over the years Nate transported cars for D'Ambrosio and Morelli Hoskins. He was a past member of the Lily of the Valley Masonic Lodge #59 and a member of the Coatesville VFW.
Nate enjoyed hunting small game, fishing, and he loved his dogs. Most of all he enjoyed making wine. He would often collect dandelions to make wine. He also enjoyed joking around with people and would often say "You got rocks in your head" or "Get on outta here."
Nate was a lifelong resident of the Hayti community in Valley Township. He enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by his sons: Michael Curry and Frank Curry both of Coatesville; daughters: Natalie Curry-Beckett, Faye Curry, Lisa Hines and her husband Stephon all of Coatesville; special granddaughter whom he raised, Michelle Curry Milligan and her husband Christopher of Huntersville, NC; 26 Grandchildren, 78 Great Grandchildren, 14 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Nate was predeceased by daughters, Karen Parker, Thelma Brandon; sons, Darrell Curry, Stanley Curry and Lamont Curry. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and several grandchildren including Nathaniel N. Milbourne-Curry.
Homegoing Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Passtown, 117 Barber Ave, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held beginning at 9 AM until 10:45 AM.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at New Evergreen Cemetery in Valley Township.
