Morizel Hodges, Sr. Obituary

Morizel M. Hodges Sr. was born August 6, 1939 in Philadelphia PA. He was the youngest son of the late Frederick Lee Hodges Sr. and Naomi Francis Hodges. Morizel received his formal education in the Philadelphia School System and immediately entered the workforce following graduation from Benjamin Franklin High School. Morizel was the beloved husband of the late Evangelist Joyce Marie Hodges with whom he shared forty-three years of marriage and forty-five years of friendship.

Surrounded by his family, Morizel was called to heavenly rest on November 27, 2020. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Mary, Bessie Isaac, Bertha Reid, Evelyn Scott, Janet Comfort, Lizzie Lee, Rosa, Ruth Thelma, Shirley Brown, Thelma McNeil; brothers, Frederick Hodges Reid, George Reid; daughter, Marcella Walker; grandson, Claude Norris III.

Morizel will be sorrowfully missed by his sons, Morizel M. Hodges, Jr. (Alissha) of Audubon, PA, twin sons Donald (Megan) & David Williams of Rhode Island; stepdaughters, Desiree (Claude) Norris, Felice L. Johnson both of Coatesville, PA; stepsons, William A. Johnson of Philadelphia, PA, Maurice Johnson (Janet) of Cape May, NJ; sister Christine George of Willingboro, NJ; brother-in-law, John M. Tate (Donna) of Coatesville, PA; sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Ed) Rainey of Conyers, GA, Vernetta Majors of Exton, PA; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A walk-thru public viewing will be held for one hour from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 533 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA. 

The funeral will be held strictly private due to the current Pennsylvania pandemic restrictions. The service can be viewed by using the following link.

Interment will also be strictly private at Rolling Green Memorial Park in West Chester, PA. 

Family and friends are welcomed to share a message on the guestbook.
