Minnie L. White

Minnie L. White, 91, of Coatesville, PA passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her residence.

Born in Shady Grove, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John Rubin Lovelace and Callie Agee Lovelace. She was the wife of the late Lester G. White with whom she shared many years of marriage until his passing in 2016.

When Minnie was 14 years old, she worked as an apprentice for a florist. She had a gift for cultivating soil in the earth and in bringing plants back to life. She could do things with flower arrangements that were amazing. Minnie worked at Anne’s Flower Shoppe in Coatesville for many years.

Minnie enjoyed planting flowers and growing vegetables in her garden. She was the best cook ever. She did not use recipes, but gracefully put together food for her family with love. When the grandchildren ate her cooking, they could taste the love.

Minnie had been a member of the Second Baptist Worship Center in Coatesville for over 50 years. She served on the missionary board and sang on the Sanctuary choir before her health began to fail.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Jenkins Scott; grandchildren, Frank Washington, Tamira Brown; great-grandchildren, Caprix Washington, Leon Moon, Amira Coleman, Jurius Coleman, Giovanni Coleman; great-great-grandson, Liam Moon, good friend, Mae Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Louis Nearo; one stepson, Larry White; brothers, Rubin John Lovelace, Marshall Lovelace; sister, Ella Lovelace Turner; and great-grandson, Derique Washington.

Though she is gone she will not be forgotten. We will cherish her memory in our hearts.

A walk-thru public viewing will be held from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Second Baptist Worship Center, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, Pennsylvania 19320. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral service will be held with limited seating for only the immediate family.

Interment will be in New Evergreen Cemetery in the Hayti section of Coatesville.
