Mary Ann Johnson-Dickinson was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania on September 15, 1948 to the late Gladys Pope and William Butler. She is survived by her very beloved husband Charles Dickinson. Thank You God for allowing Mary Ann’s Life to Touch Our Lives.
Mary Ann was born and raised in Coatesville. She worked for the CYWA of Coatesville, holding various positions for over 20 years. Mary Ann was a Drug and Alcohol Counselor but also loved to prepare meals for the residents. She often cared for the children at the CYWA daycare. Thank you, God for the lives she touched!
First and foremost, Mary-Ann was a dedicated mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Mom-Mom. She had a vivacious personality and always made her family and friends feel welcomed.
She was an excellent cook and would feed anyone in the neighborhood that came to her home. While feeding you physically, she would take the opportunity to feed words of encouragement to anyone who sat at her table.
Thank you, God for her kindness and generosity!
Mary Ann and her beloved husband Charles had been friends first which built a strong foundation as husband and wife. On numerous occasions, she shared that “Charles was the best thing that happened to her”. He tenderly and lovingly cared for her during their time together.
Thank you, God for a man that cleaved unto his wife and became one flesh.
Mary Ann had an extra special bond with her brother Sammy whom she talked with every day. It was and will be throughout eternity: “Sammy and Mary Ann and Mary Ann and Sammy”.
Thank you, God for the memories and the love between a brother and sister!
In addition to her beloved husband Charles, she leaves to grieve, her children; sons, William M. Wise, II, Jr., of Coatesville, Arnold Middleton (Serita) of Coatesville, Marcus D. Wise (Shanelle) of Downingtown; daughters, Carletta Wise of Coatesville, Carmen Wise of Coatesville and Karen Wise-Griffy (Raymond) of West Chester; brothers, Samuel Butler (Denice) of Maitland Florida, Cameron Butler of Harrisburg, Darryl Butler of Allentown; sisters, Wanda Tate; Antoinette Carter-James (Elice) and Tanya Butler all of Coatesville.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren whom she lovingly cared for. She was looking forward to the birth of her 18th great-grandchild. Mary Ann being a pillar in her family, exceptionally took on roll of Mom-Mom in helping to raise her grandchildren, Neal Tinson, Venessa McFarlin, Arnold Middleton, Jr, and Mar-Kai Wise.
Also left to grieve her passing are her cousin Kathy Mayo with whom she had a very close bond; her aunt, Mary Boggs Grove and Rev. James Grove, Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
