On Sunday, September 5, 2021, Malik W. Winkey, of Coatesville, PA, passed away unexpectedly. He was only 26 years old.
Born in West Chester, PA he was the youngest son of Georgette Danielle “Lovie” Winkey and a son of Tyrone Lynn Gardner, Sr.
Malik attended Collegium Charter School in his youth and the Coatesville Senior High School. He completed his training for his CDL license to drive trucks and had been driving trucks for over four years. His dream was to one day buy his own truck to start his own business. However, the sole purpose for all of his success was to buy his mother a house.
Malik enjoyed basketball, football and listening to music. He would produce his own rap music projects. He was a sneaker lover. He would rock Jordans and all the latest fashions. He was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams were the Chicago Bulls, the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Malik was also a fan of college basketball teams in the Final Four. He enjoyed basketball-themed movies like Glory Road and Crossover.
Malik was a happy-go-lucky person. He was a go-getter, full of life and determination. He was kind-hearted and caring. He would help take care of his nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart.
He is survived by his mom, Georgette D. Winkey; dad, Tyrone L. Gardner; siblings: Emir Winkey, Kahlie Winkey, Alaja Winkey, Shania Winkey Hill, Kahlil Knight, Tyrone D. Gardner, Davine Couther, Judah Ragland, Tyaijah Gardner, Tyrone L. Garner, Jr.; fiancé, Vannessa Riddle; maternal grandmother, Amanda Buchanan Winkey; Mom-Mom, Sharon; Pop-Pop, Tim; aunt, Dovetta; godmother, Sheryl Grove; special friend, Sharon Chambers, and host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Malik was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Charles V. P. Winkey; paternal grandparents, Debbie Gardner and Leonard Mapp; and godparents, George H. Parker and Rev. Audrey Parker.
The family will have a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Second Baptist Worship Center, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, PA.
Malik was laid to rest privately in Church of Christ Cemetery, Ercildoun, PA. Please note there will not be a public viewing and his body will not be at the service.
