Lonnie Bowman Ivey, 75, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018 at Life Care Hospital in West Chester, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents Worthington “Bowman” Ivey and Beulah Margaretta Driebilbis.
Lonnie was born May 19, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware and lived most of his life on Sunset Hollow Road in West Chester, Pennsylvania. After high school, Lonnie worked for Coy Oil and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boss. He retired after working over twenty years with Chester County Farms Prison, having served as Chief Engineer and later as Building Superintendent.
Lonnie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting in Chester and Lycoming Counties. He took great pleasure in his annual “Opening Day” hunting trips to Pine Tree Hunting Club in Hughesville, PA with his son and grandson, where he was fondly known as “Ron.” Lonnie loved fishing in the Delaware Bay with his buddy Bill and any freshwater place with his wife, Sue. In his youth, he loved drag racing and Hot Rods and had a sweet ‘56 Chevy. Lonnie loved all animals and enjoyed watching birds and other wildlife. While raising chickens, Lonnie gained the nickname of “Chicken Man.” He enjoyed weekends spent with Sue going to the cabin, and yard sales. His many dogs and cat were friends that were revered companions.
Lonnie is survived by his wife Wanda “Sue” Ivey, sister Margaret (George Deavor), son Bruce (Lara), daughter Kim (Tim Brown), step-children Cheryl Sumner and Bryan Crowder, neighbor/son Pete Hill and family, grandchildren Jacob and Evelyn Grace Ivey, Gabe Ivey, and Mitchell Baker,
