Lamar "Maurey" Boyer, Sr. Obituary

Lamar “Maurey” Andre Boyer Sr., 42, of Houston, TX, formerly of Coatesville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was born on Thursday, March 22, 1979, at Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital of Lancaster, PA to Regina Purcell of Coatesville PA, and Benjamin Dorsey of Columbia PA. He was raised in Coatesville and educated in the Coatesville Area School district and was a 1997 graduate of Coatesville Area Senior High school where he played basketball and was a member of the Coatesville Red Raiders boys basketball team. After high school, he attended Lincoln University and played on the Lincoln Lions boys basketball team.

In 2001 he enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed in Spokane, WA. Later in life, he relocated to Houston, TX where he resided.

Maurey enjoyed fishing, watching sports in which he was a Chicago Bears fan, spending time with his family in which he was the life of the party, and listening to gospel music.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother. Bertha Clark, great grandmother Emma Cephus, great grandmother, Mary Dorsey, paternal grandmother Marian Dorsey and grandfather Charles Dorsey, maternal grandmother Clara Harris and grandfather June Harris, and maternal grandfather Daniel Parker.

In addition to his parents, Maurey is survived by one grandmother, Bertha Parker of Coatesville, PA; Willie Suber, whom he called “Pop” of Coatesville, PA; his fiancé Jalisa Greenly of Houston, TX; six children, Lamar Boyer Jr. of White Plains, NY, India Shabazz-Boyer and Bilal Shabazz-Boyer both of Pottstown, PA, Amauri Boyer of Coatesville PA, Legend Boyer of Oxford PA, and Brees Boyer of Houston TX; one stepson, Kyjon Jones of Houston, TX; two sisters, Tramaine Boyer-Peoples, wife of Marquis Peoples, Sr. and Brea Boyer fiancé of Aaris Parker, Sr. all of Coatesville PA; one brother, Benjamin Dorsey Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Maurey will be sadly missed but we will cherish the precious memories that are forever with us. We love you and will continue to celebrate your life.

Life Celebration Services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Gateway Church, 160 Cowan Road Parkesburg, PA. A viewing will be held beginning at 8:00 AM until the service time.

The interment will be held in Mt. Zion Hill Cemetery, Atglen, PA.
