Kimberly “Kim” Allyson Hurd, 67 of Modena, PA, passed away Monday September 11, 2023 at his home.
Kim was born in West Chester on November 10, 1955 to parents George A. Hurd Sr. and Winifred A. Pines Hurd. He grew up there and attended Henderson High School. Later he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.
He worked for a number of companies throughout his life including Chester County Corrections Department (prison guard), Coca Cola (delivery driver) and The West Chester School District (custodian). By far, his most memorable job was as a chauffeur for a small West Chester limousine company. Because of his charismatic personality, he was well suited to handle celebrity clientele and business professionals alike. He was so good at schmoozing, they often requested him as their driver while in town.
Kim loved music of all kinds and was himself an excellent drummer. He also loved watching all genres of movies, reading fiction and murder mysteries, fishing, and collecting comic books. He had the heart of a Samurai and was a gun enthusiast. He loved to travel and explore different cultures, customs and cuisines.
He never missed an opportunity to minister to and lead people to Christ, especial young people. Many affectionately called him “Mr. Kim” which always put a smile on his face. He loved spending quality time with his family and close friends. He was famous for his soul-comforting cabbage soup, and would feed anyone who visited him. Kim truly lived to please God and his family. He had a deep and impacting way of touching each and every person he came in contact with.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly M. Hurd (Coatesville, PA) and Chelsey N. Hurd (Downingtown, PA), three grandsons, Savon A. Hurd (Coatesville, PA), Davis Aidan McGurn, and Carter A. McGurn (Tampa, FL) and two sisters, Cheryl A. Hurd (Albany, NY) and Robin J. Hurd-Graham (West Chester, PA), a godson/nephew John Graham, Jr. (DeSoto, TX) and a host of nieces and nephews. Kim is preceded in death by his father George A. Hurd Sr., and mother Winifred A. Hurd, brother George A. Hurd Jr., and son Davis Ivan Kumar McGurn Hurd.
