Juanita Richardson Obituary

Juanita Mildred Parr Richardson, 82, of Coatesville, PA was called home to be with the Lord on “the Lord’s Day” Sunday, July 18, 2021. Born in Coatesville, Juanita was the oldest of three children born to the late Adam F. Parr, Sr. and Margaret Brown Parr.

Juanita was the wife of the late George Earl Richardson with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.  Juanita and George had been together since the seventh grade.

In her early years, Juanita was educated in the Coatesville Area School District. She attended the historical James Adams School and was a 1956 graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School.
While raising a family, Juanita worked at the Coatesville Veterans Administration Hospital for over 30 years until she retired.

She was a faithful member of Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where she served on the kitchen committee. She was a member of the Mothers Board and a member of the Pastors Aide Committee. She also directed the Children's Church Ministry and was a supporter of the Vacation Bible School every year.

Juanita was the founder and coordinator for People Helping People Soup Kitchen for over 25 years. She would often say: “You can’t tell people about Christ if they are hungry and don’t have clothes to wear.”  She was known for her potato salad, fried chicken, fish, greens, string beans, sweet potato pie, coconut cake, and beef vegetable soup, just to name a few.

Her favorite scriptures were the 23rd Psalm and Psalm 91. She was enriched and inspired while attending the annual Women’s Conventions and Holy Convocation.

Her favorite pastime activities were crocheting, cross-stitching, watching westerns, gardening, and baking. Classical music was regularly played in her home. She played the cello. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music and jazz. Most of all, she enjoyed cooking and serving good food to people in need.

Her daughters describe her as a godly, caring woman who showed her love through her food.  She was no pushover, though only four-foot-nine inches tall, she held court in her house. She would say to children who were not acting right, “Remember commandment #5, ‘Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.’

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Adam Parr, Jr. and Elder Ronald S. Parr.

She is sadly missed by her daughters, Simone G. Richardson (Gilles Ruel), Nyree Dawn Richardson; granddaughter, Shamica J. Richardson; great-grandson, Bryson Earl Richardson;  sisters-in-law, Evang. Charlotte Parr, Florence Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
