John Stanley Swiatek passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2023 at the age of 83.
An avid outdoorsman, John loved to hunt and fish, to ski and to go sailing. He learned how to fly airplanes and helicopters and how to snorkel. He was an accomplished painter and cook. He loved classic cars and attending car shows. Never one to let his age stop him, when he was 75 years old he joined several archeological digs in Northeastern PA and regaled his family with stories of the artifacts he found.
John was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late John L. and Jennie Swiatek. He served in the United States Navy and, upon completing his service, he attended and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in engineering. He worked for Pennsylvania Power & Light Company for 25 years as an electrical engineer before enjoying an early retirement.
John is survived by his youngest brother, Edward; his two children, Leslie Stolasz and Matthew Swiatek and their spouses; his 7 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He will be greatly missed.
He elected to be cremated so there will be no viewing or funeral. The family will hold a private gathering in the future to remember and celebrate John's life.
Family and friends are invited to share condolences at the guestbook link on this memorial page. All are welcome to light a candle in his memory.
