James Edward Nelson, Sr, "Jimmy", passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville, PA. He was 63 years old.
Jimmy was born in West Chester, PA, in 1958, to the late Ernest Clayton Nelson, Sr., and Arlene J. (McCarraher) Nelson. He was the husband of Santana Tabb-Bey, and the father of James Edward Nelson, Jr., (husband of Connie).
Jimmy was a 1977 graduate of High School in the state of Washington through Big Bend Community College. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was released with an honorable discharge.
Jim worked as a plumber for many prominent companies and as a self-employed independent contractor by way of apprenticeship.
In 2012, he became a member of Trinity United Bible Church.
In 2015, he landed a job at the Coatesville VA Center in the maintenance and grounds departments.
Jimmy was very passionate in his endeavors. He enjoyed being with family and friends. His special interests were playing card games and dominos. He was a very good chess player and an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was a small-time musician himself, who played the guitar.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Leslie Nelson in 2016.
Jimmy leaves precious memories to his family including; his wife, Sytanna “Santana” Tabb-Bey Nelson of Phoenixville; James Edward Nelson, Jr., (Connie) of Coatesville; two brothers, Ernest C. Nelson, Jr, of Coatesville, and Jonny Ashton of California; two sisters, Sharon Morgan-Cox of Coatesville, and Brenda Nelson of California; three grandchildren: Kennedy Nelson, Anna Nelson, and James Bassett Nelson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 15, 2022, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 South 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA, 19320. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM.
