James Moses Hoggard, Jr., 77, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA.
James was born in Coatesville on March 9, 1945. He was the son of the late James Hoggard, Sr. and Margaret Brodie Hoggard. He was the husband of Lillian Hoggard.
James was educated in the Coatesville Area School District including the James Adams Elementary School. He was a 1963 graduate of Coatesville High School.
As a young man, James was baptized in the river in Cheraw, South Carolina. He had a job driving a truck to deliver milk. He worked at Lukens Steel in Coatesville for 34 years until he retired.
James was a member of the Second Baptist Worship Center in Coatesville where he served on the usher board, men's fellowship, and was past chairman of the trustee board.
James enjoyed freshwater fishing, swimming, and playing pool. He was a member of the Parkesburg Fishing Club. He was a fan of the Phillies and the Eagles. James was a member of the Road Dogs Motorcycle Club (Captain of House). He enjoyed supporting charities like the Salvation Army and Children's Hospital, just to name a few. Most of all, James loved the Lord and his family.
James leaves cherished memories to his wife, Lillian Hoggard of Coatesville; daughters, Dedra E. Hoggard, Wanisha K. Warner both of Coatesville; son, Moses James Hoggard, Sr. of Coatesville; five brothers, William Hoggard, Elmer Hoggard both of Coatesville, Roosevelt Hoggard of New Castle, DE, Reuben Hoggard and Clinton Hoggard both of Phila.; two sisters, Marie Smallwood (Richard) of Philadelphia, Maytha Brown (Lonnie) of Coatesville; special sister, Betty Lee of Lawnside, NJ; sister-in-laws, Yvonne Hoggard and Jamia Winkey both of Coatesville; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a grandson: Steven M. Hoggard; sisters, Gloria L. Cotten, and Lottie Souell; brothers, Ronald “Shug” Hoggard, Leroy Hoggard, Sr., Richard "Wink” Travis Winkey and son-in-love, David Warner, Sr.
Homegoing services will be held at 10:45 AM on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Second Baptist Worship Center, 857 Lumber Street, Coatesville, PA 19320. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
