Henrietta D. McCrumn Jemison

Henrietta Delores Jemison of Coatesville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. She was 98 years old.

Born in Coatesville she was the youngest of eight children, five girls and (three boys that died at birth) of the late Henry and Anna Louella Partlow McCrumn.

Henrietta was the wife of the late Willie Jemison with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.

She graduated from S. Horace Scott High School in 1942. She attended Apex College of Beauty & Hairdress, graduated on March 26, 1947, and became a self-employed beautician.  Over the years, she worked at Jamesway, in the cafeteria at the Coatesville VA Hospital, and at Embassy Suites.

Henrietta was known to speak her mind. She loved to travel and cook. She made the best fried chicken in the cast iron skillet.

She was a member of Eureka Chapter #12 Order of Easter Star where she was past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. In addition to the choir, she participated as a chairperson for the Annual Women’s Day. She was a former member of the young married couples club.  Most of all, she enjoyed singing and praising the Lord. Henrietta was the last surviving sibling of her generation.  She will be deeply missed.

She leaves cherished memories to her sons, Kenneth Bond (Anna) of Coatesville, and Gregory Jemison of Marietta GA; 8 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great grandchildren; nephew, Robert H. McCrumn (Faye), niece, Deborah A. Hines Miller; great nephew, Albert Washington, Jr.; special friends Roxey Walton, Elder Rachael McDougald, Rita McDougald-Campbell, Bernice Treadwell Smith, Lew Wilson and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Willie Jemison; she was preceded in death by her son, William T. “Ronnie“ Bond; sisters, Willa Mae McCrumn Watford, Ruth McCrumn Tilghman, Emma McCrumn Greenley, Mabel Hines; grandsons, Ronald Bond, Troy Bond and Allen Bond, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Jemison.

A funeral service has been scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA, 19320. A viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. The interment will be in New Evergreen Cemetery, Coatesville.
