Harry London, Jr. Obituary

Harry J. London, Jr., affectionately known as “Googie”, 63, formerly of Kennett Square, departed this life Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his home in Parkesburg, PA.

Harry was born on January 4, 1960, in West Chester, Pennsylvania to the late Harry and Lorraine Johnson London.  After having 3 daughters, Harry, Sr. was so happy to finally get his son. Father and son looked so much alike that when they were together, they were called “Big Lundy and Little Lundy.”

Harry was educated in the Kennett Consolidated School District and during his high school years attended Chester County Vo-Tech, where he excelled in working with small engines.

Over the years, Harry had various jobs working at machine shops, where he used his skills working on precision machinery.  His most recent job was at Thomas W. Springer, Inc. in Landenberg, PA, where he worked over the course of 8 years as a custodian.

Harry enjoyed get-togethers and having a good time with his family and friends.  He enjoyed being outdoors listening to music and gardening.  He especially liked purchasing flowers and plants on clearance and then bringing them back to life in his garden.  Harry was the family’s “mo-chanic” and could fix anything by rigging it together to make it work.

From an early age, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, starting with a mini-bike, advancing to a dirt bike and then to a motorcycle.  He and his cousins Bruce and Mark were in close competition with Evil Knievel as they raced around doing wheelies and seeing who could jump the highest over a dirt hill next to their homes.

Later in life, Harry enjoyed riding his bicycle to get around, and could often be seen riding in Toughkenamon. Using his rigging skills, he attached a plastic milk carton crate to the back of the bike to carry groceries, and his six-pack.

Harry will be deeply missed, and leaves to cherish his memory his children from his marriage with Samantha (Jackie) London: one son, Christopher London and wife Tabitha of Cary, NC; one daughter, Erica London and husband, Ali Sloan, of Lancaster; one brother, Steven I. London and wife, Chrystine of Laguna Hills, California; four sisters, Diane L. Robbins and husband William of Toughkenamon, Linda R. Barron of Cornville, Arizona, Doris E. Lambert and husband Chester of Toughkenamon, and Kathleen L. Burgos of West Grove.  Seven grandchildren: Shalin, Nykira, Dyke & Brylynn London and Alijah, Ali, Jr. & Khali Sloan, and one great-granddaughter Makaiah London, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
