Georgette "Lovie" Winkey Obituary

On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Valentine’s Day in the middle of the night, Georgette Danielle Winkey, of Coatesville, PA, slipped away unexpectedly at the Paoli Hospital. She was 54 years old.

Born in Coatesville, she was the beloved daughter of Amanda Buchanan Winkey and the late Charles V. P. Winkey. She was affectionately known as “Lovie" by her family and friends.

Lovie, attended the Coatesville Area public schools and graduated from Coatesville Senior High School in 1988.

She was employed by the Coatesville School District, Embreeville State Hospital, and Brian’s House for many years. However, her most valuable job was as a homemaker. The love she shared with her children and grandchildren was phenomenal; she would go all out for her children. One of her favorite nephews, DeAndre Brown was a testament of her love and lived with her for many years. He is now attending Thiel College in Greenville, PA.

Lovie embraced life with a passion. She brought joy to anyone who crossed her path. She loved to cook, and her signature Lasagna was requested by all. She spent most of her waking hours with her grandchildren and was always thinking of new places to take them. She enjoyed taking them to the beach, Ocean City being one of her favorite places. But her most honorable achievement was her children and grandchildren and she always made herself available when they needed her, which was most of the time.

She is survived by sons, Emir Winkey, Kahlie Winkey; daughters, Alaja Winkey, Shania Winkey Hill; mother, Amanda Buchanan Winkey; sisters, Adeania Neshell Winkey Dorsey, Tanisha Winkey; brothers, Dabeed Buchanan, Cesar Buchanan, Charles Winkey, Jr.;  grandchildren, Seriah Winkey, Zevaeh Winkey, Juelz Winkey, Zayden Anderson, Zahmir Anderson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition, to her father Charles Van Pierre Winkey; she was preceded in death by her youngest son, Malik Wonya Winkey; sister, Alainia Meshell Winkey Pulliam; and nephew, Derek Anthony Mayo.

Lovie will be deeply missed and her memory will live on in our hearts forever because of the joy she left  behind and the many lives she touched. Lovie’s life was far from a bed of roses, but she held on to life and living with much zeal as long as she could. She stood the test, she gave it her best, paid her dues, received her wings, and now she sits next to the king.
