George Richardson Obituary

George Earl Richardson, 83, of Coatesville was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the Brandywine Hospital in Caln. Born in Coatesville, George was one of two sons born to the late Homer Carl Richardson, Sr. and Ann Elizabeth Winfield Richardson.  George was the husband of Juanita Parr Richardson with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.  George and Juanita have been together since the seventh grade.

In his early years, George was educated in the Coatesville Area School District. He attended the historical James Adams School and was a 1955 graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School. He served three years in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. George obtained the rank of Sergeant.  His tour of duty took him to Germany during the early 1960s. George received military awards for his sharpshooting and marksmanship.

George excelled in an accounting career after attending Virginia Union and Villanova University. He was employed as an accountant for several years at Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. After retirement, he worked at Reeceville Elementary School as a one-on-one aide for the Coatesville School District.

George was a faithful member of Christian Faith Fellowship. His favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm.

His favorite pastime activities were playing golf, bowling, and listening to music. He enjoyed jazz guitar music of Prince, Ramsey Lewis, and his nephew, Bryan Parr.

His daughters describe him as a girl dad.  A father who would fix his daughter's hair before taking them to school. He would help his daughters with their homework. Math problems and numbers were very important to him. George insisted that his girls were educated, learn to read music and singing was expected. He had a dry sense of humor. He loved Midway hot dogs and ice cream. He would often say: “Don't be afraid of your own shadow, or you're going to be a prisoner in your own house.”,  “Treat people the way you want to be treated.” And, “I’d rather be an hour early than a minute late.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Homer C. Richardson, Jr.

He is sadly missed by his wife Juanita M. Richardson; daughters, Simone G. Richardson (Gilles Ruel), Nyree Dawn Richardson (Darius Kelly); granddaughter, Shamica J. Richardson; great-grandson, Bryson Earl Richardson;  sisters-in-law, Florence Richardson, Charlotte Parr and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
