Gary V. Alston

Gary Vincent Alston, “Rock”, 57, of Coatesville, PA, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Gary was born in Coatesville, PA on August 30, 1963, to Alberta (Jennings) Alston and the late Harvey Lenzie Alston.

Gary played basketball while attending Scott Intermediate High School and graduated from Coatesville Area Senior High School in 1981.

He was baptized at the Second Baptist Church in Coatesville under the Pastorate of Reverend Cornelius Williams and served on the usher board.

Gary was self-employed in the auto detailing industry. He was also a DJ who loved old-school music and would make a music CD for someone in a minute. He was a foodie; spicy Doritos being one of his favorites. He was careful not to leave any leftovers. He was also an avid sports fan and loved all sports.

Gary is survived by two daughters, Sharqual Carter of Alabama, Delcene Peterson of Wisconsin; sons, Andre Costello of Downingtown, PA. Darshan Hilton of Coatesville, PA; brothers, Stanley "Hussey" Alston (Loretta) of Coatesville, Harvey L. Alston (June) of Coatesville; sisters, Paulette Alston-Lewis of Coatesville, Baleria Williams (Dan) of Parkesburg, PA; aunt, Liz Norman of Coatesville; close cousin, Dennis Alston; close friend, Daysha Bush; several grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Gary was proceeded in death by his father Harvey L. Alston; brother, Jeremiah Jennings; his maternal grandmother, Pauline Jennings; his uncles, Fred Jennings, Charles and Rodger Alston and his aunt, Delia Dobie.

Homegoing Services will be held at 6:00 PM, on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at New Life in Christ Fellowship, 1 South Fifth Avenue and Lincoln Hwy, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held beginning at 4:00 P.M. until the service time.
