Evalina Gravely Obituary

Evalina Margaret Lee Gravely, 92, of Coatesville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at the Brandywine Hospital, in Coatesville.

Born in Bainbridge, Pennsylvania in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Charles McDaniels and Jessie Lee Wilks. She was the widow of the late William Samuel Gravely.

Evalina was affectionately known as "Micki" to her family and friends. She was a graduate of Downingtown High School. Over the years, she worked at Pepperidge Farm in Downingtown, and at the VA Hospital in Coatesville as a nurse assistant.

She was known as the "pretzel lady" who worked at the former Jamesway store in Thorndale, and she loved handing out sweets to the neighborhood kids.  Her granddaughter remembers how much she loved hand soap and always kept a ton of it, and candy, around the house.  Micki enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, listening to Gospel Highway Radio Eleven.  She also loved listening to the smooth soulful voice of Marvin Gaye, and Will Smith’s version of “Summertime”.

Evalina was a member of the Second Baptist Worship Center in Coatesville.  She volunteered at City Gate in Coatesville for 15 years.  Many who knew her were ministered to by her card ministry which she faithfully sent out each holiday and she would always sign the cards with the slogan “Let go and let God”.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica “Cookie” E. London, wife of William London, of Coatesville; sons, Gregory Michael Gravely, Carter L. Gravely both of Coatesville; sisters, Joan Lee of Coatesville, and Deborah Wilks of Detroit; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald Lee, Herbert Lee, Robert Lee; and a sister, Jacqueline Lee Lambert.

The family is planning a memorial service for a later date which will be announced.
