Memorial Service 11 AM, SAT, JUN 26, 2021 for Elder Alinda J. Eggleston of Coatesville. 


Elder Alinda J. Eggleston, 73, was born, raised and educated in Coatesville, PA. She was the widow of the late Elder Julius G. Eggleston, Sr. with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. Born on August 4, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Oneal Norwood and Harriet Hunter.

Pastor Alinda received her early education from the Historical James Adams School in Coatesville. She was a 1965 graduate of Scott Senior High School.

At an early age, Alinda’s spiritual nurturing began at Bethel AME Church in South Coatesville, PA. When she accepted Christ, she joined First Apostle FBH Church in Coatesville, under the leadership of Elder Leroy Hines.  Over the years, she served in many areas of the church ministry including the choir, the usher board, and even in the church kitchen. She also served as the church secretary, trustee, deaconess, ordained minister and served as Junior Pastor for several years. 

She received her biblical schooling from Grace Bible Institute, Full Gospel Bible Institutes and the New Life Theological Seminary where she received her Bachelor of Theology Degree, A Masters Degree in Biblical Studies and a Doctorate Degree in Theology.

The Lord called her to start a church in 1994. She began bible studies in the community and for Mt. Tabor AME Zion Church in Lincoln University, PA while remaining faithful to her church duties the First Apostles FBH Church.  In 1995, the Lord commissioned her to work under Dr. Percy Bland.  In 1996, Pastor Alinda and her husband co-founded Set Free by the Word Ministries in Coatesville.

Pastor Alinda was a member of the Minister’s Alliance of Coatesville & Vicinity, the spiritual advisor for the Virtuous Sisters for Christ, curriculum coordinator for the New Life Theological Seminary, the Dean of the NLTS Satellite branch in Coatesville, and was an active member, along with the Set Free family, of the Greater Deliverance Church International in Coatesville under the leadership of Pastor Bobby G. Duncan.

Pastor Alinda was a member of the former Clefs of Joy Gospel Singers, a group founded by her husband. She participated in the 2018 rendering of Coatesville Culture Society’s production of the Gospel at Colonus. She loved to sing, cook and most of all she loved to teach the Word of God.   

Pastor Alinda taught a weekly bible study at the Coatesville Senior Center.  Along with the members of Set Free, she had a passion to care for those who were struggling with life’s challenges.  She was known to share words of encouragement and quote her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Pastor Alinda was called home to be with the Lord, January 7, 2021, at age 73.

She leaves two daughters, Tariya R. Edwards and her husband David Edwards of Downingtown, Lynette Shelton and her husband Mark Shelton of Coatesville; son, Julius Eggleston, Jr. of Coatesville; 9 grandchildren:  Deseon L Eggleston, LaQuisha Wilson, Shanika M. Eggleston, Rumeal J. Eggleston, Tenowa Edwards, Daviona Edwards, David Edwards, Jr., Brehannah  Eggleston, Elijah G. Eggleston; 9 great grandchildren: Ta’jon, Ta’ja, Leyah, Eva, Scarlett, Nyah, Desmond, Morgan and Jalil; brothers: Raymond Hunter (Carol) Virginia, Michael Hunter of Chester, Randy Hunter of Coatesville; Frederick L. Norwood (Patricia) of Coatesville, David A. Norwood (Marcy) of West Chester and Christopher O. Norwood (Julie) of Phoenix Arizona; sisters, Minister Rebecca Norwood of Lilburn, GA, Lynda L. Evans (Ronald) of Knoxville, TN; aunt, Vivian Covert of Chester, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her husband, Pastor Alinda was preceded in death by one sister, Wendy A. Lopp; and a daughter-in-law, Tessa M. Keitt Eggleston.

A Memorial Tent Revival will be held in her honor at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Greater Deliverance Church, 800 South First Avenue, Coatesville, PA 19320. The attire is casual.
