She was the youngest of three children born to Oscar and Josephine Lunsford Freeman.
Born in Durham, North Carolina, Effie was baptized at age six years in the Nuse River in North Carolina while attending the Zion Temple COGIC. She graduated from Hillside High School in 1954 then left home at age 21. While living in New York, she was called into the ministry.
After relocating to the Coatesville, Pennsylvania area she became employed as a nurse’s aide at area nursing homes: Hickory House and Tel Hai, as well as doing private duty home care. She also worked at Pritikin for many years.
She enjoyed traveling and watching sports: football, baseball and basketball; cooking and watching westerns.
Effie was a caring servant who had a big heart for prison ministry work. Some of her greatest moments were times spent ministering to those in need.
Reverend Freeman is survived by: one sister Ruth Freeman Davis; god children Cachet Pulliam, Patricia Brown, Geraldine Gass and LaTonya McCrea special grand-goddaughter, Brionah Eggleston and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
