Darrel Norman Obituary

Darrel Keith Norman, affectionately known as “Shaddy Dad”, was born on February 8, 1957, in Coatesville, PA. to the late Alexander M. Norman, Sr., and Janet Louise (Harris) Norman. He was one of seven children (four boys and three girls). He graduated from Coatesville Area Senior High in 1975.

Darrel was a well-known and respected electrician for over 40 years. He attended Delaware Valley Trade School graduating in December of 1981.  He was previously employed as an electrician for SEPTA in Philadelphia, PA. and Malany Electric in West Chester, PA. Over the last 27 years, he operated his own successful business, Double D’s Electric.

Aside from his passion for electrical work, Darrel had an undeniable fervor for serving and worshipping the Lord since he started his walk with God in 1992. He was often seen in the streets boldly and charismatically witnessing for Christ!

Darrel was a current member of World Changers Ministry in Atlanta, GA. While under the leadership of Pastor Creflo Dollar for the past 27 years; he received an associate’s degree in 2013 in Christian Studies. He also served faithfully in various ministries including choir member, usher, and maintenance man. Darrel was also a prior member and van driver for Trinity United Bible Church in Coatesville, PA, under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Hunt. It was well known that where there was a need, he willingly stepped in to lend a hand to serve, as unto the Lord.

Darrel was a good-spirited comedian to those who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance and his infectious Colgate smile would light up a room! He loved spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed watching football and basketball and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers. He also found pleasure in listening to gospel music and attending jazz concerts. His favorite artist was Kem.

Darrel unexpectedly transitioned from his earthly home in Union City, Georgia to his home in glory on March 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander M. Norman, Sr., and Janet Louise (Harris) Norman.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his six children: Darrel K. Lewis, Kia D. Twyman, Darla I. Williams (husband Jamaal), Alexander Coleman all of Coatesville, PA, Keith L. Norman of Lancaster, PA and Corey Champagne of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren: Nasir Stewart, Destiny Stewart, Jamaal Williams, Jahmaad Williams, Elijah Lewis, Eden Lewis, Eastyn Lewis, Daxton Lewis and Kartell Norman; six siblings: Alexander M. “Bu” Norman, Jr. (wife Francine), Demetria A.
