Cleveland Butterfield, Jr., 86, of Coatesville, PA, passed away April 9, 2020, at his residence. Born in Smoaks, South Carolina he was the son of the late Cleveland and Lillie Mae Jenkins Butterfield.
Cleveland worked as a dietary aide at the Chester County Hospital for 10 years. He had also worked for 33 years as a nursing assistant at the Coatesville Veterans Administration Medical Center until he retired.
Cleveland was a faithful member and served as a deacon at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coatesville. He was a member of the Lily of the Valley Lodge #59.
He is survived by his sons: Donald R. Butterfield (Patricia), Clement Butterfield, Stanley Butterfield (Colleen) and Cleveland Butterfield, III (Sieglinda) all of Coatesville, PA; Quinton Quail of Parkesburg;daughter, Darlette Kelly of Coatesville; his brother, Akram Myers (Eugenia) of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Mary Hemsley of Parkesburg and Vandora Miller (Dwayne) of Woodlyn; long-time companion, Marion Lyons; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Harriet Butterfield of Philadelphia; former spouse, Hattie Johnson, Augusta GA; son-in-law, Mahoney Butler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald C. Butterfield; daughter Cecelia “Phyllis” Butler; sisters, Virginia R. Butterfield; brothers, Lee Butterfield, Adell Butterfield and Eugene Butterfield.
