Carol Simpson Obituary

Carol Jane Simpson, of West Chester, PA, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital in West Chester. She was 73 years old.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Howard H. Evans, Sr. and Sarah J. (Corsey) Evans. She was the wife of the late William E. Simpson, Sr.

Carol was a lifelong resident of West Chester. She attended the West Chester Area public schools and graduated from Henderson Senior High School in 1968.

Carol dedicated many years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Barclay Friends Assisted Living Facility in West Chester. Her compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to her patients touched the lives of many.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching game shows and Western movies. Her face would light up whenever her brother George brought her coffee and doughnuts. Her love for scratch-offs, playing the lottery, and listening to gospel music, especially Shirley Caesar, brought her immense happiness. She was a family-oriented woman who treasured moments spent with her loved ones, especially traveling to watch her grandchildren's basketball games.

Carol was a cherished widow, grandmother, mother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by her children: Sarah Singletary (Shawn) of West Chester, Jesse Evans of West Chester, William Evans (Tanya) of West Chester, Tammy Young (David) of Chester, PA, Tina Simpson of Coatesville,  and Aaron Simpson, Sr. of West Chester; brothers, Eddie C. Evans of Downingtown, PA, George H. Evans and Jesse D. Evans, both of West Chester; sister, Sally L. Evans of Greensboro, NC; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 1 goddaughter, Samara Harrison; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her husband, William E. Simpson, Sr. she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Lynn "Scoop" Simpson; son William "BJ" Simpson Jr.; brother, Howard P. Evans Jr.; grandchildren, Shanell Young, Shakeem Simpson, and Aaron Simpson, Jr.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 West Miner Street, West Chester, Pennsylvania 19382. A viewing with be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. 

Interment will be held privately.
