Calvin Culclasure Obituary

Calvin Anthony Culclasure was one of seven children born from the union of the late Elizabeth and Major Culclasure, Sr. A life-long resident of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Calvin is remembered as being a great man, a loving husband, a genuine father, a lifetime brother, an inspiring friend, a resilient mentor, a validated son, gentle soldier, and a strong warrior.

Calvin received his early education in the Coatesville Area Public School System. He proudly served two tours of duty in the United States Army from 1966 - 1975. During his military career, Calvin was promoted to Sergeant during the Vietnam Conflict. He valiantly served until he was honorably discharged. After returning to civilian life, Calvin became employed at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. Over the years, he worked as a nursing assistant and later in the medical records department before he retired after 30 years.

Calvin was a friendly, caring, family man. He and his wife Donna met in an interesting way over a bet. Together they shared 18 years of marriage.

Calvin was a member of the VFW Post #287 and a past member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He was known as “Catman” by some of his many friends and family. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and traveling. He loved talking to people, he could strike up a conversation with anyone. Most of all he loved his family.

At 75 years of age, Calvin departed this life on July 5, 2020. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Major Culclasure, Jr., and a sister, Claudette Culclasure.

Calvin leaves a legacy of great memories to his beloved wife, Donna Culclasure of Coatesville; sons, Tylon Bradley and Anthony Culclasure both of New Mexico; daughter, Kimberly Poke of North Carolina; brother, William R. Culclasure, Sr. (Dorothy); sisters: Elease E. Culclasure, Henrietta Culclasure Artis (Douglas), Brenda C. Toland (James), and Althea S. Culclasure all of Coatesville; step-son, Antonio Thomas; 4 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
