Bernard Garrett Obituary

Bernard H. Garrett, 72, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at his residence. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Louis and Susan Dunston Garrett. Bernard was the beloved husband of Angela C. Blair Garrett with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

A veteran, Bernard was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He served over three years until he was honorably discharged. Shortly after leaving the Air Force, Bernard obtained an Associate Degree in Computer Science and he then went on to get his Bachelor’s in Finance and later in life obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration/E-Commerce. He was employed in the IT field as a Mainframe Programmer for 40+ years.

Bernard was a faithful member of Christian Faith Fellowship in Downingtown, PA. where he served on several ministries.

He enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with family, watching “movies” and vacationing at the beach.

He is survived by his wife Angela Garrett; children: Anthony Garrett (Tamika), Murad Garrett, Spencer Garrett, Latisha Herout (George) and Alfina Evans; siblings: James Garrett (Thelma), Regina Whaley, Jules Garrett, Doraldeen Townsell (Brent), Martha Garrett, Louise Burrell (Rick), Gerald Garrett (Eric), Allen Garrett; 5 grandchildren: Isaac Garrett, Natalie Garrett, Tyrone Hunter, G'Tia Herout, Jayci Evans-Montague, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and beloved friends.

In addition to his parents, Bernard was preceded in death by a brother; Louis “General” Garrett; a sister; Susie Garrett, a sister-in-law; Remitha (Remi) Garrett and a brother-in-law, John Whaley.
