Barry L.
Robinson, Sr.
November 6, 1955 – February 14, 2026
Barry Lee Robinson, Sr., 70, of Coatesville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his residence.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Harry Emmett Robinson, Sr. and Marion Sims-Robinson-Woodloe.
Barry was a true champion. When life knocked him down, he never stayed down. He fought his way back with determination, grit, and a quiet courage that inspired everyone who knew him. In his school years, he proved that spirit, earning his GED and stepping confidently into the working world.
He began his career in the steel mill with the track gang, where he worked hard, proved his worth, and let his natural gifts shine. With strong math, mechanical, and electrical skills, he passed the qualifying exam and began training and working in the electrical department. When the mill began cutting back, Barry refused to give up. He transitioned to SEPTA, inspecting motors and equipment with the same dedication he brought to everything he touched.
Later, he became a First-Class Signal System Desk Inspector with SEPTA, retiring after 25 years of faithful and dedicated service.
Never one to sit still, Barry took a part time job at a local gas station and convenience store, where he was truly loved by coworkers and customers alike.
He was a proud member of the Lily of the Valley Masonic Lodge #59 and a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Bernardtown. He also maintained an active relationship with rehabilitation groups, always reaching back to help someone else rise, always offering encouragement, always trying to better his fellow man.
And when someone said “cookout,” he was already there. Every year at the family reunion, he could be found at the grill with his sons, delighting generations of family with food, laughter, and love.
He is survived by his sons, Barry L. Robinson, Jr. of Camden, NJ, Malcolm D. Robinson of Coatesville; daughter, Trina Afena Vanee McNear Gonzalez; 4 grandchildren: Nevaeh Dais, Jyion Joseph, Mystery Gonzalez, Guess Gonzalez; his siblings: Jean E. Davis of New Jersey, Juanita M. Pooler of Virginia, Bessie M. Robinson of Coatesville, Marilyn A. Wilson (Victor), Rev. Brian A. Robinson, Sr. (Arvella), Lonnie D. Robinson (SherrieJo), Bruce E. Woodloe, Lynne S. Woodloe all of Coatesville and Ian D. Robinson (Deanna) of North Carolina; uncle, George Sims of NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barry was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Robinson and Gail Matthews, and one brother, Harry E. Robinson, Jr.
Barry will be deeply missed. We will cherish his memory in our hearts.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Bernardtown, 1208 Youngsburg Road, Coatesville, PA.
