Annie Bell Eggleston, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 23, 2020 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester. She was 100 years old.
Affectionately known as "Big Mama" to her grandchildren, Annie was born in Warrenton, North Carolina on August 23, 1920. She was the oldest of 6 children born to Robert and Mamie E. Woodard Williams.
She grew up in Warrenton, North Carolina, where she accepted Christ at Saint Stephen Baptist Church, at an early age.
On December 25, 1940, H. P. Eggleston married Annie B. Williams. In 1941, she joined Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Arthur Younger. From this union, two children were born: Maxine and Henry.
Annie was a faithful and active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board and sang with the crusader chorus.
Annie loved the Lord, her husband (who preceded her in death), her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She lived and breathed biblical principles as a Christian woman whether in her home, her church, or her community. Her love touched all. She instilled the love of Christ and Christian values in her children.
Over the years, she was employed at the mushroom plant, and the airport making parts for airplanes during World War II. She also worked at Valley Forge Hospital and then she transferred to the Coatesville VA Medical Center until she subsequently retired.
She was a member of Eureka #12 Order of Eastern Star from 1949 until her death.
She leaves behind one daughter Maxine Eggleston Spiller (late, Luther J. Jr.) of Gary Indiana; one son, Henry (Judith) Eggleston of Tavares, Florida; four grandchildren: Brelis M. Spiller (Nathalie) of Louisville, KY, Zkrr Eggleston (fiancée, Heather) of Lancaster, PA, D. Kieron Spiller, Sr. (Brandy) of Gary, IN; Coko M. Lominy of Mt. Dora, FL; great-grandchildren: Nia Lee Spiller, Luther James "LJ" Spiller, III, Kennedy Lenise Spiller, Lena Spiller all of Louisville, KY; B. Nyela Spiller, D. Kieron “KJ” Spiller, Jr. of Gary, IN, Ezekiel Lominy, Chloe Lominy, Sara Bell Eggleston of Lancaster, PA; god-children, Judy Brown, Belinda Young, George Brown, Robert Brown, Carmela Young, Catina Young Parker, Leslie Wright, John Eggleston II, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mamie E. Woodard Williams; four sisters: Polly Stamper, Georgiana Brown, Irene Williams, Patti Young; one brother, Robert Williams and one son-in-law, Luther J. Spiller, Jr.
A walk-thru public viewing will be held for one hour, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA.
