Amia Lewis Obituary

Amia Terrilynn Lewis, 49, of Coatesville, Pennsylvania passed away on September 23, 2022. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Ellis “Midget” Henry and the late Cheryl “Tiny-Mite” Lewis.

She received her early education from the Coatesville Area Public schools and graduated from Coatesville Area Senior High School in 1991.

Amia was a woman with a big heart who loved hard and would protect her loved ones fiercely at any cost. She was a great cook who loved to cook and was known for her famous potato salad just like her mother's. Amia also would give anyone the shirt off her back while taking them in to offer them food and shelter. She loved to dance and sing and would dance all night if you let her! While she was an avid protector of her loved one’s aka “Bruiser” she was equally fun, loving and a true social butterfly. She loved children and had a natural knack to make them all feel so special, loved unconditionally, and safe in her care. She will forever be “Mamma Mia” to all the children she lovingly cared for over the years. She was loved by many for her vibrant and upbeat personality along with her warm and welcoming smile.

Amia is survived by her son Dameon Nixon of Coatesville , daughters, Shavon Lewis of West Chester, Domonique Nixon of Coatesville; grandchildren Audrey Shepherd, Da’Zere Clark, Dakari Nixon, Damarre Nixon; her brothers Vincent (Jennifer) Lewis of Coatesville, Stephan (Brianne) Lewis of New Hampshire; her sister Terry Baxter of California; uncles Robert Lewis and Gregory Stevens; Bonus mother and father; Joan Nixon and Wesley Eggleston Sr; Bonus Brother Wesley “Doobie” Eggleston Jr.; Bonus daughter and grandchild, Xavia McCollum and Carter McCollum; Nieces Brittany Moretti, Natalia Lewis; Nephews, Amari Lewis, Gavyn Lewis; Special cousins Sharon (Aaron) Jones, Cateena Dalton, Carlette Miller, Denise Taltoan-Brown, Nicole Jones, Eugene “Gino” Henry, Jr.; Special close friends, Dana Brandon, Latoya Parker- Norris, Monette Ford, Sharon Wright and host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other friends.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Jessie Mae Lewis Conway; maternal grandfather Leroy Allen; paternal grandparents Isaac and Dolly Henry; uncle Leroy (Butchie) Lewis; Dameon Nixon, Sr.; Stepfather John “Toast” Brown. Surely, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
