Alice Eva Irvin, 98, of Downingtown, PA passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Brandywine Hospital in Caln, PA.
Alice was born in Gum Tree, PA on June 9, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Alice (Bradley) Cole and Lorenzo Cole. She received her early education from Selfside, a one-room schoolhouse, in Hephzibah. Remarkably, her teacher, Ms. Spitler, took her to school every morning.
On June 10, 1946, she married Druie B. Irvin. Together they shared 74 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.
She was employed as a senior aide at Senior Center Coatesville. She worked 16 years until she retired in 1980.
Alice was a member of the Church of Christ in Ercildoun, PA.
She is survived by a son, Clifford Martin; daughter Lavina Rivers; grandchildren: John Irvin, Shakira Garlock, Diane Rivers; 24 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren; God-daughter, Alice Brazzle Turner; daughter-in-law, Shirley Thomas; Lisa Burton who as like a daughter; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Druie Irvin; two sons, Albert Thomas, Sam Irvin, and a daughter; Jeanette McGibboney.
A walk-thru public viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM, on Monday, May 24, 2021, at the Church of Christ, Ercildoun, PA. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be held privately with limited seating for the immediate family only.
Interment will be held in Church of Christ Cemetery East Fallowfield, PA.
