William Butler Cuff, Sr.

William Butler Cuff, Sr., "Bill", 97, of Coatesville, passed away April 24, 2014 at the Brandywine Hospital. He was the son of the late John and Estella B. Cuff and the husband of Anna Mae Hampton Cuff with whom he shared over 74 years of marriage.

He was a 1934 graduate of Coatesville High School and a 1939 graduate of Lincoln University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology.

Mr. Cuff was a teacher in the West Chester School district for 26 years until he retired in 1978.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Chester County Association for Retarded Children, Past President of Kappa Chapter #364 PA Federation for Exceptional Children, the Pan Hellenic Assembly of Chester County and the Young Married Couples Fellowship Club. He was a member of the PA State Education Association, Valley Township Planning Commission from 1963 to 1980, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Lily of the Valley Lodge #59, F.&A.M. P.H.A., and the First Baptist Church of Passtown.

He enjoyed arts and crafts and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Cuff; son, William, Jr. and his wife Charlotte, of Coatesville; grandson, Blaire R. Cuff, of Allentown; one great grandson, Gabriel S. Cuff ; a good friend Maria Oguendo and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, John T. Cuff, Jr. and his sister Priscilla Elizabeth Cuff Stokes.
