Reverend William D. Calloway was born on June 29, 1943, to the late Rose Turner of Norristown, PA and the late William Edward Bond. His childhood memories include years raised by the late Ola and Dempsey Conyers.

Reverend Calloway attended public school and graduated from the Norristown Area High School in 1962. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force from October 1962 through 1966. Shortly after completing his military service, Reverend Calloway began his career at AT&T in King of Prussia, PA. He progressed into several management roles during his 25-year career while employed by AT&T. While working he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, PA and completed additional studies from Deliverance Bible Institute, Center for Urban Theological Studies, Zarepath Bible Institute, and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. After suffering from a severe stroke in 1990, he retired as a Senior Project Manager from AT&T in Morristown, New Jersey.

Reverend Calloway immensely enjoyed spending time with his family and lifelong friends, such as best friend Charles Fitzhugh. They enjoyed his wittiness while sharing his words of wisdom with every interaction. Often known for his acts of kindness, he always lent a helping hand to those in need and assisted those in finding solutions to their problems. Due to his positive demeanor and aptitude for great debates, Reverend Calloway made friends everywhere he went, which developed into memorable encounters. Reverend Calloway's passion also included his love for bowling, as he was an avid bowler and participated in several bowling leagues throughout the years.

At an early age, Reverend Calloway recognized the importance of fellowship. He attended the Mennonite Church where he began his training in the knowledge of God's word. In 1977, he and his entire family joined the Second Baptist Church of Doylestown (PA) under the leadership of the late Reverend Spencer Long Jr who recognized Reverend Calloway's talents and guided him through his journey into ministry. Over a10-year period, his faith and commitment manifested through the many roles he served, including Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, and Deacon. On March 22, 1987, Reverend Calloway received his license to preach and became the Associate Pastor of the Second Baptist Church of Doylestown, PA. After moving to New Jersey in 1988, Reverend Calloway and his family joined the Saint Paul Baptist Church of Somerville, NJ, where he subsequently became an associate minister. In 1992, he and his family relocated back to PA and joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church (Spring House, PA), under the leadership of Reverend Charles W. Quann. Reverend Calloway remained an active member until the time of his passing.

Reverend Calloway is survived by his loving wife and longtime caregiver, Idamae; children Kelci (Michael) Trent of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Vennette (Thomas) Suber of Norristown, PA, and Francine Medley of Basking Ridge, NJ; grandchildren, Kaylin and Michael Trent; three sisters, Josephine (Paul) Wilson, Cynthia DeCourcey, and Cleo Johnson; brother Kenneth (Anna) Bond; three sisters-in-law, Helen Cody, Irene (Jerry) Robertson, and Phyllis Alston; two brothers-in-law, Amos (June) Alston and James (Bernadette) Alston; nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Reverend Calloway is preceded in death by mother Rose Turner; father William Edward Bond; brothers Carl Calloway and William T. Bond, and sister, Etta Bryant.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 712 Penllyn Pike, Spring House, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:30 AM until the service time.

The interment with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 2, 2024, in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
