Obituary

William Albert Tucker was born in Chase City, Virginia on July 31, 1926 to the late John Ernest Tucker and Iretha Wyatt. He was the eldest of two children and preceded in death by his brother, Samuel E. Tucker. William was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013.

As a child, William moved to the Mount Pleasant, Wayne area in 1934 with his father and Grand-father, Robert Grim Tucker. At the age of 18, one of his most notable accomplishments was being drafted on April 10, 1945, in to the Army during the WWII era.  Stationed in San Antonio Texas, he served as a Drill Sergeant, military police officer, and direct assistant to the Commanding officer of his post. His duties included training soldiers for battle. He was honorably discharged on February 12, 1947.

Mr. Tucker affectionately known as "Pops", later relocated to Glenolden, Pa. He attended Vine Memorial Church in Phila.; later joining First Baptist Church of Oakeola with his family. By profession, Mr. Tucker was a Master mechanic and upholsterer until losing his sight in his early 40's. Despite being blind, he continued to produce quality work. He spent the last years of his life in Atlantic City, N.J.

William was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Tucker. From their union, he is survived by five sons; Levelle, PA; Levi (Andrea) PA; Lenier, DE; Levere (Nycol) PA; Levin (Cecilia) DE. He is also survived by his oldest daughter, Shirley Ann, (Robert) NJ; Louis, PA; William (Renee) NJ; Sonia, OH; thirty two grandchildren, twenty-nine great- grandchildren, five great- great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
