Walter O. Mitchell, Jr., 74, of Coatesville, passed away Friday, October 28, at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Walter, Sr. and Otelia Mitchell. He was the husband of Valiree (Davis) Mitchell with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
He was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School, and attended Pierce Business College.
Walter served in the U.S. Marines as a Staff Sergeant in the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged.
He worked as a tow truck driver for the Philadelphia Police Department, and for the Sanitation Department of Philadelphia.  He enjoyed bowling, sports and fitness training.
He was a member of New Life in Christ Fellowship in Coatesville, PA.
Walter is survived by his wife Valiree Mitchell; three daughters, Asha Mitchell, Michelle Mitchell and Otelia Mitchell; a son, Michael Clifford Mitchell; step daughters, Kim Hudnell, Lillie (Dennis) Lavender, Steavi Black; step sons, William Smith, Jr., Anthony (Mona) Smith, John Smith, Fred (Michelle) Smith; 15 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son, Walter Mitchell III.
Funeral Services will be held 5 PM, Sunday, November 6, 2016 at New Life in Christ Fellowship, 1 South Fifth Ave, Coatesville, PA.  A viewing will begin at 3 PM.
Interment with full Military Honors will be held Monday, November 7, 2016, 12:30PM, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
