Walter M. Loper I, affectionately known as "Bum or Bummer", 63, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, after a lengthy illness at Select Speciality in Wilmington, DE.

A lifelong resident of West Chester, PA, Walter was the son of Robert "Bob" Loper and the late Sarah "Joanne" W. Loper.

He was educated at Henderson Senior High School in West Chester where he enjoyed playing basketball.  After he graduated in 1977 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

He was very skilled in driving and held several driving jobs and was able to visit almost all 50 states. He then continued to work for the West Chester Area School District for 14 years as a maintenance worker servicing the schools until his retirement.

He enjoyed playing poker, spades and other card games with family and friends.  Anyone that knew him knew he also loved to eat!!  With chicken and a good sub as his favorite options.

In addition to his father Robert, he leaves behind a son, Walter Loper II; daughter, Sapphire Nixon (Kevin); grandchildren, Avery, Jordyn and Kameron Nixon; siblings, Victoria "Vicki" Loper, Wendell Loper and Robin Loper, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
