Walter E. Blair, Sr., born on October 16, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was also raised, passed away on March 29, 2026, at Kearsley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the age of 82.
Walter lived a life marked by strength and perseverance. He was known for his steady presence, strong values, and the love he showed to those around him. Walter was funny and had a great sense of humor, often bringing laughter and light to those in his presence. He attended the Philadelphia School District and went on to build a fulfilling career, spending many years as a limousine driver, proudly driving his Lincoln Town Car and providing dependable, professional service.
In his free time, Walter greatly enjoyed watching sports, was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and he had a great love for bowling. He also enjoyed good food, especially Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream, watermelon, grapes, and KFC, which brought him simple pleasure and joy.
Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Denise Blair; his parents, Walter & Mary Blair; his daughter, Margaret Blair, and a sister, Christine Blair.
Walter was in holy matrimony with Carol Blair and out of this union were born Walter, Jr., and Paulette Butler-Alston (Richard), who he is survived by.
He is also survived by his other children, Vanessa Berthau, John Hall, and Qina Johnson; his sister, Angela Garrett; eight grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew; and a host of cousins. Walter also shared a close and meaningful relationship with his cousin, Dorothy Wilkie, affectionately known as "Blackie," who held a special place in his life.
Walter will be deeply missed, but his love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
