IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Vaughn H.

Wright

February 24, 1953 – June 17, 2023

Obituary

Early Saturday evening, Vaughn H. Wright, 70, of Chester, PA, formerly of Paoli, PA, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Riddle Hospital, in Media, PA.

Born in West Chester at the former Memorial Hospital, Vaughn was the second of three sons of the late Rev. Vernon S. Wright, Sr., and Hilda Maude Turner Wright.

Vaughn was a 1970 graduate of Great Valley High School in Malvern, PA. After graduation, he attended Cheyney University.  He was an intelligent person who loved going here and there, swimming, and visiting with family and friends as much as he could, and had an impressive knowledge on a variety of subjects.  He would drive anywhere and when he traveled, he did not need a GPS.

Vaughn worked as a quarry worker at Allan Myers and Independent Contractors. Vaughn was an avid golfer who played and caddied at Waynesboro Country Club and Spring Haven Country Club.  In his early years, he was a salesman and sold household goods for the Fuller Brush Company.

In his youth, he played little league baseball, and neighborhood basketball, which often resulted in his big brother Vern getting into fights because of him. Vaughn loved to laugh and he made people laugh. He probably could have been a comedian. He would take the most serious matter and explain it in the most hilarious fashion.  He was a very funny guy. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seventy Sixers, but most of all he loved his three daughters, and his dog Ginger.

Vaughn was a member of the Gamma Phi Omega fraternity.  He was affectionately known as Vaughnny Love and Rico Swavey by his family and friends. Vaughn had a passion for fly dressing, sunglasses, and nice cars, and was skilled in fixing cars. He also inherited from his father a knack for fixing the house.  He had a signature walk, and his catchphrases, "Oh Wow," "Solid," and "Right On." Vaughn will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

He leaves a legacy of cherished memories to his beloved daughters, Valeisha Wright (companion, Akeem Maultsby), Vicki Wright Brown (husband, Samuel Brown), Volonna Wright (companion, Ronald Williams) all of Chester; brothers, Vernon S. Wright, Jr. of Phoenixville, PA, Ventnor T. Wright (wife, Leslie) of Coatesville; uncle, Calvin Wright (wife, Lenore) of Exton; aunt, Angie Turner of Devon, PA; mother of his children, Allison Byrd; niece, Sondra Wright; nephews, Nigel Wright and Christian Scherwitzl-Wright; bonus son, Breon Henderson Clark (fiancé, Sylvia Richbow); godchildren, Shannon Knight, Rah'maj Goldsborough; 16 grandchildren whom he truly loved with all of his heart; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one niece, Stephanie Loren Wright and one sister-in-law, Bessie Williams Wright.

Though he is gone, surely he will not be forgotten.
