Uley Macey Hines, Sr., 84, of Coatesville, PA passed away at the Chester County Hospital on Saturday, November 23, 2024, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Julius Hines and Mary Adderton.

Uley received his early education from the Coatesville Area public schools including the Historic James Adams School and S. Horace Scott High School.

He was truly a people person, cherished by all his nephews and nieces. Uley had an innate ability to connect with people, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, and he took great pleasure in people-watching, finding joy in the simple act of observing the world around him.

Uley enjoyed the sounds of Motown oldies music. He enjoyed a good hoagie. and sports. Uley was particularly passionate about watching boxing back in the day. Especially matches with Coatesville's finest fighters.

He leaves cherished memories to his daughters, Sharon Lee (William) of Glenmoore, PA, Denielle Hines Walker of New Castle, DE, Nikikki Hines Whitaker (Anthony) of Fort Mitchell, Alabama; son, Charles Hines of Irmo, SC; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Emma Mae Hines and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Uley M. Hines, Jr.; daughter, Doris Hines; brothers, James C. Hines, Donald Hines, Oscar F. Hines, William Hines, and Eugene Hines; sisters, Edith Brickus, Maxine R. Davis, and Frances Hines.

The family will plan a memorial gathering to be held at a later date.
